RaNaye
RaNaye has been with Firestar just over two years, thanks to the Air Force bringing her to the DC area. She is the ranch girl of the Firestar team, born and raised on a cow/calf operation in Nebraska and South Dakota. Although RaNaye and her husband have enjoyed all of the locations the Air Force has sent them, she plays a part-time ranch hand by escaping to Montana where she works alongside her family whenever possible. Her horse experience is exclusively ranch related and consists of long days in the saddle out West. After college, RaNaye spent several years as an elementary school teacher.
While stationed in Texas in 2019, she traded teaching for volunteering at a therapeutic riding center and has been near a barn ever since. As Firestar’s vet assistant, you will see RaNaye driving the mobile office, hustling about with set up and clean up, being “MacGyver” while playing with tools in the garage, and even sending a few client messages or completing other office duties. Her favorite job, however, is right beside your horses— keeping them calm, holding heads for dentals, jogging for soundness exams, and assisting with everything else Dr. Freckleton does. RaNaye is grateful to have found Firestar— working with exceptional colleagues, learning from the best of equine medicine with Dr. Freckleton, interacting with wonderful clients, and even better, meeting your horses and being a small part of their health journey.
